‘Exceptional’ player now wants to quit Everton just six months after joining

Arnaut Danjuma is reportedly keen to join Olympique Lyonnais, with Everton only signing the winger on loan in the summer.

The Villarreal-owned attacker joined the Goodison Park side in the summer having been at Tottenham on a short-term loan deal the previous season, with Everton initially missing out on Danjuma.

Having signed the forward heading into this campaign, all signs pointed to the 26-year-old thriving at Everton, yet things have taken a turn for the worse for Danjuma.

, the Dutch international now wants to join Lyon on loan, with the former AFC Bournemouth star managing just two goals in all competitions for Everton.

, a clear break from Premier League football could be what’s needed for Danjuma to get his career back on track after a disappointing 12 months.

And for Everton, Danjuma’s failed loan spell is yet another transfer lesson for the backroom staff, who will once again be left with egg on their face if the forward joins Lyon.

With Everton not holding an option to buy for Danjuma, terminating the winger’s loan deal and shipping the forward out to Lyon could be an easy enough task for Lyon.

And for the Toffees, they should be open to cutting their losses with Danjuma, who really hasn’t worked out at Goodison Park this season.

The forward’s form has been inconsistent, and with just four starts in the Premier League, it’s clear that Sean Dyche isn’t a big fan of Danjuma’s either.

As a result, a move to Lyon could be ideal for all parties, especially if Danjuma is to break into the Netherlands squad for the 2024 Euros.
