‘Excellent’ Liverpool player has now picked up an injury on international duty

The international break can be draining at the best of times, but sometimes, it’s just downright frustrating.

Not only does the Premier League come to a screeching halt for some pointless Nations League games, star players risk injury in matches that are low-stakes.

Injuries have been a running theme of this international break already.

Riccardo Calafori picked up an injury for Italy last week, while Martin Odegaard hobbled off for Norway too.

Arsenal have been seriously affected by injuries, and now, Liverpool have suffered a similar issue.

Harvey Elliott injured on England U21 duty

According to , Harvey Elliott has picked up an injury on England U21 duty.

The youngster has fractured his foot, and he’s now set for a spell on the sidelines.

Elliott isn’t expected back until late October at this point.

Elliott was a key player for Jurgen Klopp last season, but he’s had something of a reduced role under Arne Slot so far this term.

Luckily for the midfielder, there is another international break in just a few weeks’ time, so he shouldn’t miss that many games for Liverpool.

Liverpool should be fine without Harvey Elliott

This is a frustrating blow for Liverpool, but the Reds should be fine without Elliott for the next few weeks.

Curtis Jones is on his way back from injury, so there should be added midfield depth in any case, while the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister should be fresh as anyway as the season has only just started up.

Elliott is an ‘excellent’ player who will make some serious contributions for Liverpool this season, but, unfortunately, he’s going to have to wait to get his first proper run in Arne Slot’s side.

Of course, this isn’t the first major injury Elliott has had for Liverpool after breaking his ankle against Leeds a few years ago.

Elliott bounced back brilliantly last time, and he’ll be hoping to do the same again here.
