‘Excellent’… Brendan Rodgers says 25-year-old player was brilliant in Celtic’s win vs Feyenoord tonight
Celtic’s win over Feyenoord was labelled as a dead rubber with no meaning to it but every supporter knows that there is no such thing when it comes to their club and Champions League games.
It looked like Brendan Rodgers‘ side had choked again late into the game when Yankuba Minteh equalised in the 82nd minute.
But when Gustaf Lagerbielke nodded home that 90th-minute winner, the stadium erupted as the Celtic fans celebrated.
And as the fans celebrate the win, Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, highlighted one player that he thought was superb in the win over the Eredivisie champions tonight.
Rodgers said [], “I thought he [Liam Scales] was excellent. I thought him and Stephen Welsh, who hadn’t played for a long time for us either, I thought he done great for us to last that long.
“But Scalesy’s obviously come in and I think he’s shown from pre-season he was a player who was maybe unsure of what his future was that he can come in and consistently play in the Champions League.
“And he’s played very, very well. It was a very good performance from him tonight. I’m delighted for him.”
Brendan Rodgers was delighted for Gustaf Lagerbielke in Celtic’s win
Whilst Rodgers was delighted with the win and proved the Celtic doubters wrong, he also wanted to point out the contribution that Swedish defender, Gustaf Lagerbielke made after his winning goal.

Rodgers continued, “It was a great moment for him because he hasn’t been involved in a lot of squads.
“Other guys have been in front of him but he’s actually been very good in training. His attitude has been super and he’s always been ready.”
This really will be a huge confidence boost to all three players as they were coming under the spotlight at Celtic recently.
With Rangers looming on the 30th, all three could be crucial in helping Celtic get their second win of the season over their biggest rivals and helping determine the destination of the league title.
