‘Exactly what Spurs need’: Darren Anderton hails 83-cap international reportedly on Levy’s radar
Tottenham Hotspur cult hero Darren Anderton has waxed lyrical about the prospect of Gareth Bale rejoining Spurs in wake of heightened speculation linking the two parties together.
reported on Thursday afternoon that Bale’s advisors are talking to Spurs about a potential loan move from Real Madrid, the Welshman seemingly keen on a North London return.
The added that Daniel Levy is leading negotiations with Real and Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett, with optimism on all sides of the deal being completed.

While Jose Mourinho remained coy on speculation, the player’s agent admitted to that the Wales star is “closer to leaving Madrid than at any time in last seven years”.
In wake of Tottenham’s poor defeat to Everton in their Premier League opener, Anderton believes Spurs “need” a player like Bale, and thinks it’s a “no-brainer” for him to return.
“After watching the game on Sunday, oh boy do Spurs need it – someone who can go and win a game with a bit of magic, creativity and flair,” Anderton is quoted by as saying.
“It has to be great for all parties. To come back to somewhere you are loved really does make sense.
“He carried the Wales team, he carried the Tottenham team when he was here, winning games on his own. He is exactly what Spurs need.
“For me it is a no-brainer to come and play for us and prove what he is all about.”
TBR View:
For years, speculation linking Bale and Spurs has often led to much eye-rolling, but this time, it looks as though there’s a very good chance the two parties will be reunited.
Frankly, it’s baffling to see a player of his calibre being frozen out at Real despite the heroics he’s produced over the years, but their loss will hopefully be Tottenham’s gain in the coming weeks.
