Ex-Sunderland flop Jerome Sinclair finally ends his goal drought by scoring match-winning brace for Oxford United
Jerome Sinclair finally broke his duck and scored his first goals since early December to win the match for Oxford United.
Watford striker Sinclair started the season at Sunderland and it initially seemed like a coup to snap up a highly-rated young talent on loan.
But the former Liverpool striker was heavily criticised by Sunderland fans for his poor performances on loan, managing just two goals in 19 matches for the Black Cats.
His first goal came in the league against Peterborough United in early October and he then had to wait another two months for his next strike.
That came from the penalty spot in the EFL Trophy win over Notts County in early December.
Sunderland cut Sinclair’s loan spell short in January after a torrid spell in the North East and he moved to League One side Oxford United.
After failing to find the net in his first five matches for the U’s, the 22-year-old finally ended a goal drought of nearly three months on Saturday.
Sinclair netted both goals for Oxford as they managed a hard-fought 2-1 win over Scunthorpe United in League One.
The former England youth international’s career had been steadily declining but he will now hope to put his Sunderland loan spell behind him and build on his performance from last Saturday.
