Ex-Leeds United keeper Kamil Miazek still on the hunt for new club with Mateusz Klich helping out

Not many members of the Leeds United first-team squad left the club permanently at the end of the 2019-20 campaign. In fact, in the case of Gaetano Berardi, he technically left and came back.

But one player who did exit was Kamil Miazek. Whilst never making a first-team appearance for Leeds the Polish stopper was the club’s third-choice keeper for most of their promotion campaign.

In fact, he spent 19 of Leeds’ 46 Championship fixtures last term on the bench, waiting for a chance to replace either Kiko Casilla or Ilan Meslier.

But with first-team football not forthcoming and his contract up, Leeds allowed Kiazek to leave the club in the summer.

Considering his pedigree and likely a good reference from Leeds, Miazek would have been confident about finding a new team quickly.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case.

Miazek remains a free agent and even one current Leeds player has been vouching for the 24-year-old online.

Countryman and Leeds midfielder Mateusz Kuch retweeted a post from Manchester City and former Leeds scout, another Polish national, Jakub Bokiej highlighting Miazek’s credentials.

He has come close. Miazek spent time on trial with Heerenveen last month, . However, asthat trial period did not lead to a contract being awarded by the Dutch top-flight side.

Leeds United fans, especially those who followed the under-23s, will appreciate what Miazek can bring to a club and will hope that their former number three can find himself a club that can offer him first-team opportunities soon.
