‘Every week’… Rodrigo Bentancur shares what Ange Postecoglou was constantly doing while he was out injured
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has shared what Ange Postecoglou did ‘every week’ while he was out injured.
Rodrigo Bentancur has endured a difficult past year at Tottenham after picking up two significant injuries.
The 26-year-old was a standout performer for Spurs last season but his campaign was brought to an abrupt end in February.
Bentancur picked up an ACL injury at Leicester City and his return for Tottenham didn’t come until the end of October at Crystal Palace.

During this period, Spurs dismissed Antonio Conte and eventually hired Ange Postecoglou over the summer.
Despite missing the opening months of the Aussie’s debut season, Bentancur has insisted that Postecoglou was keen to regularly check on his progress.
What Postecoglou did every week while Bentancur was out injured
Speaking to , Bentancur opened up on what was a difficult nine months for him as he recovered from an ACL injury.
“For me personally, I had to delay getting started working with Ange a little bit as a result of my knee injury but he really was a great source of support for me,” the midfielder said. “From the first day he got here, he was always keeping a close eye on how my injury was progressing. He’d ask me every week how I was feeling and how the rehab was coming along.
“So, once I was able to make my return, I just tried to settle back into playing in this side as quickly as I could. And I think he has given me some excellent opportunities to feature and, moving forward, I hope to be able to continue as I have been doing up to now.
“He’s an excellent person and he’s shown just what a great professional he is too.”

Bentancur hasn’t exactly been at the top of his game recently but that is understandable given his lack of football over the past year.
Just weeks after returning from the ACL injury, he was ruled out with an ankle injury following a heavy challenge from Matty Cash in November.
But it’s clear that Postecoglou is a huge fan of the former Juventus midfielder and we’re sure he will rediscover his best form before long.
