‘Every time’: Gareth Southgate shares what Harry Kane usually does after he’s criticised with England

England boss Gareth Southgate jokingly explained what Tottenham star Harry Kane usually does when he’s criticised, following all the criticism Harry Maguire has had to face recently.
The Manchester United man has arguably been the most criticised player in the country over the last few months. His form hasn’t been great and all the criticism that has come his way has clearly hurt his confidence.
England played the Ivory Coast yesterday and Maguire, sadly, was booed by the home supporters at Wembley when his name was announced.
That’s not great at all for a player and multiple England stars have come out in his defence.
Gareth Southgate: Harry Kane scores hat-tricks if he’s criticised
Asked about the criticism around Maguire before the game last night, Southgate told : “A lot of our players have these questions.
“Every time we come together, it’s normally Harry Kane (that gets criticised), but he usually gets a hat-trick.
“I don’t expect Maguire to do that.
“We know the only way to answer these questions is on the pitch. That’s the challenge for Harry and everybody else.”

Kane and Henderson defend Maguire
Gareth Southgate described the boos towards Maguire as a joke after the game yesterday and Jordan Henderson and Kane agree with the England boss.
Kane took to Twitter today and : “We’ve worked hard to rebuild our connection with fans in the last few years so to hear booed at Wembley before kick off was just not right.”
In the following tweet, he : “The fact that he’s been brilliant on the pitch and given us all so many great memories makes it even harder to understand. He doesn’t deserve that reception. He’s got full support in the changing room and should have the same from every England fan.”
Jordan Henderson lashed out at the supporters who booed Maguire as well. Read his complete statement below.
