Everton’s Kurt Zouma is extremely fortunate to make France squad
Everton defender Kurt Zouma has somehow made the France squad.
The star, on a season-long loan at Goodison Park from Chelsea, has been selected for the upcoming friendly with Iceland and the UEFA Nations League clash with Germany by Didier Deschamps.
Zouma has made four appearances for the Toffees this season, but has done little to impress on Merseyside.
He has been shaky at the back alongside Michael Keane and has struggled with Marco Silva’s zonal marking system.
Zouma was poor against West Ham and Arsenal, but was slightly better in the games against Huddersfield Town and Fulham.
His inclusion in the French national side is certainly perplexing, with a number of options out there playing better at the moment.

The 23-year-old is still unpolished and needs to improve.
There’s no guarantee he’ll actually feature against Iceland or Germany, but his inclusion is still very fortuitous.
Perhaps under any other manager, Zouma would have missed out.
Deschamps may be a World Cup winner, but he has made some very strange calls during his time as the national team coach.
It is a surprise to see him overlook Manchester City star Aymeric Laporte and Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet.
The pair have been excellent for their respective clubs this season, and Zouma is definitely a lucky boy.
