Everton’s Delph lucky to get England recall – thanks to Pep Guardiola
Everton midfielder Fabian Delph has made for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifying matches against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
The 29-year-old was a feature for his country last summer but missed out on the last squad due to injury.

Delph, who has made a promising start at Goodison Park following his move from Manchester City, has now been recalled and will be looking to add to his 20 Three Lions caps.
In the last international break, Southgate put his faith in Jordan Henderson, Declan Rice and Ross Barkley for both games, suggesting Delph has his work cut out to get a start.
Some neutrals have questioned Delph’s recall to the squad, and perhaps the former Aston Villa and Leeds United midfielder has his old manager Pep Guardiola to thank somewhat.
TBR’s view
Back at City, Guardiola has a rough diamond in the form of Phil Foden, who would surely be involved with England by now at the expense of Delph if he was playing more regularly at the Etihad Stadium.

The 19-year-old has just four appearances in all competitions so far, amounting to 101 minutes of actual pitch time.
Many City supporters are clamouring for the starlet to play more often, but cautious Guardiola opts to trust more senior stars such as Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and David Silva.
While the talented Foden sits on the bench at the Etihad, Southgate cannot really call him up, which is a boost for the youngster’s former teammate Delph.
