Everton’s Bernard ought to follow West Ham star Felipe Anderson’s lead
Everton winger Bernard needs to follow Felipe Anderson’s example to light up the Premier League.
The Brazilian was handed his first start by Marco Silva against Southampton in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match.
The summer signing from Shakhtar Donetsk has had to bide his time at Goodison Park so far.
He has made four cameo appearances in the Premier League, with Silva preferring to field Richarlison from the left with either Cenk Tosun or Dominic Calvert-Lewin through the middle so far.
Against the Saints, Bernard caught the eye again, and could soon be handed his first start in the league.
And when his opportunity does come, he should take inspiration from compatriot Felipe Anderson, who has really started to settle at West Ham.
Bernard can be Everton’s Anderson
The 26-year-old is a flair player just like Anderson.
The West Ham man has been impressing with his dribbling and direct approach, which is something that Bernard also has in his locker.
Everton and West Ham have played similar systems this year, with both managers choosing to play 4-3-3/4-2-3-1.
The right-footed Anderson has spent the majority of his minutes on the pitch wreaking havoc from left.
This is something Bernard likes to do. If he has seen that it works for Anderson, then perhaps he can take inspiration from that.
The pair are quite similar, but Bernard is slightly quicker than his compatriot. He can certainly have a similar impact to that of Anderson if given the chance to shine regularly at Goodison Park by Silva.
