Everton new boy Amadou Onana has praised Leeds United star Rasmus Kristensen for saving the Whites from suffering a home defeat last night.

Leeds and Frank Lampard’s men finished just a point apart last season. Both clubs could’ve easily gone down, but the two sides should be safe this campaign – if last night’s performance is anything to go by.

Everton’s Onana says Leeds star Kristensen saved them from losing yesterday

Leeds started the game strong last night, but it was Everton who took the lead through Anthony Gordon. The hosts got back on level terms 10 minutes into the second half thanks to Luis Sinisterra, and the two clubs shared the points.

However, Everton could’ve easily picked up a win at the end through Onana.

The 21-year-old Belgian was at the right place in the box and the ball found him. He poked at it and it looked a certain goal, but Kristensen got his head in between, and that kept the game at 1-1.

Speaking about the incident after the game, Onana praised Kristensen, who joined Leeds for around £10 million this summer ().

He told Jan Age Fjortoft on : “I think he was the guy saving it on the line. He did well, he did very well, he sacrificed for his team.

“That’s what you’ve got to do. So, well done.”

Kristensen’s block really did save the game for Leeds last night, and he is proving to be a fine signing.

The 25-year-old has played every minute of every game for the Whites so far, and he has looked great. He’s good going forward, is solid at the back, and as we saw last night during his heated altercation with Gordon, he doesn’t back down from a fight either.

Luke Ayling is on his way back from injury after undergoing surgery over the summer, but if Kristensen continues to play as well as he has been, the Englishman will have to settle for a spot on the bench.

Leeds take on Brentford on Saturday, and Kristensen is almost guaranteed to start.
