Report: Everton submit offer for two-time PL winner, Ancelotti wanted him last year

Everton have submitted an offer to sign Roma defender Chris Smalling this summer, according to .

The Toffees are looking to bring Smalling back to the Premier League following a two-year spell at the Stadio Olimpico. He joined the Serie A side permanently last year after an initial loan for £13.5m rising to , but already faces an uncertain future.

But Everton are not willing to pay a substantial sum to bring Smalling back to England after an injury-ravished season. He started just Serie A appearances under Paulo Fonseca last term after a raft of sprains, knee, bicep and other muscular issues.
