Everton transfer committee reportedly not unified on Djibril Sidibe future
The right-back situation at Everton might be an area of great interest in the summer transfer window. The intrigue surrounds two players currently on loan, one at Everton and one away.
Jonjoe Kenny is in great form for Bundesliga side Schalke. Many fans are hopeful the England under-21 international will get a Goodison Park chance next term. Meanwhile, Djibril Sidibe is on loan at Goodison Park from Monaco. His form has been up and down but, on the whole, the World Cup winner will have surely impressed Everton with his displays.
So what do Everton do next?
Well, according to one report, it seems the question over Sidibe remains very much unanswered.
that there is no ‘unified decision’ on whether to keep Sidibe at the club for next season. It comes after manager Carlo Ancelotti, director of football Marcel Brands and Farhad Moshiri recently met in Germany to discuss transfer plans for next season.
that Everton’s loan move for Sidibe included an option to sign the player permanently for £11.9 million next summer.
It seems a very good price but it is understandable why Everton might be unsure. Kenny is looking up to the task of replacing him and Seamus Coleman remains a decent option, even if he is no longer at his imperious best. With Mason Holgate also a capable right-back, Sidibe will not be the club’s most pressing recruitment idea for the summer.
Everton might indeed be best off sticking with the much improved Kenny and Coleman for next season and saving some money in the process.
