Report: Club offer new deal to ‘sensational’ player Tottenham and Newcastle have both bid for this month
Tottenham and Newcastle might both want to sign Everton winger Anthony Gordon this summer, but the Toffees are making their own moves to ensure that doesn’t happen.
Reports a few weeks back claimed that Newcastle and Tottenham had both made moves in July to sign the ‘sensational’ Gordon, who impressed with Everton last season. Of course, the Toffees rejected those approaches from both PL clubs, and Gordon remains on Merseyside.
And according to a report in the today, Everton are pressing on with offering a new contract to Gordon in the hope of tying his future down at Goodison Park. Frank Lampard has apparently pleaded with the Everton board to resist selling Gordon.

With that, it’s claimed that Everton are looking to increase his earnings and also offer him a long-term deal. Naturally, that protects Everton as well, who would be able to demand a huge sum if Spurs and Newcastle did persist.
Gordon was one of the shining lights for the Toffees last season in what was an otherwise miserable season spent battling relegation. Eventually, Gordon helped Lampard’s men remain in the division. The winger has since seen his attacking partner Richarlison join Tottenham, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also wanted.
TBR’s View: Everton Keeping Gordon Would Be Huge For The Club
It would be a massive relief for Lampard if the board does get Gordon to commit his future to Everton.
Losing another player on top of Richarlison in the attacking third would sting, especially when there is talk that Calvert-Lewin might yet move on as well before the window ends.
Gordon is a fine young player and with a season behind him now he might feel he can step up to be Everton’s main man next season. There is a reason why Spurs and Newcastle want him, so if the Toffees can do this deal, then it’s a huge boost.
