Everton think they’re about to make a ‘really good signing’ on deadline day

It’s been a season of change at Everton over the past few weeks.

Indeed, Everton have new owners, a new manager and they’re gearing up to move into a new stadium too.

Now, all Everton need are a few new players, and there could be some movement on that front before too long.

Carlos Alcaraz is close to joining Everton, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on Market Madness, the Toffees think that this is going to be a really good signing.

Tottenham were interested in Alcaraz over the summer, so this is a bit of a coup for Everton.

Indeed, Jones says that Everton are happy with Alcaraz’s versatility and they consider this to be a solid addition.

Everton think Carlos Alcaraz will be a good signing

Jones shared what he knows about Everton and their view of Alcaraz

The journalist says that Everton aren’t discounting any further signings, and they believe they’ve already landed a solid player here.

“Alcaraz to Everton is something that is very interesting. If you remember him at Southampton he was barely able to make a mark there,” Jones said.

“It didn’t work out the way people hoped or expected at Southampton, he was an exciting signing, but it didn’t work well.

“At Everton, maybe he can make up for lost time. An hour or so I looked into whether Everton had other signings on the agenda. I’m not going to rule it out, because I didn’t get the feeling they’d given up.

“But one thing I was told was that in signing Alcaraz they have someone who can play in midfield and also as an attacking threat too. That ticked two boxes for them and that’s why they consider this a really good signing.

Carlos Alcaraz record in different positions

Jones says that Everton believe Alcaraz is a versatile player, and they’re not wrong.

Indeed, according to data put together by Transfermarkt, Alcaraz has played in no fewer than nine different positions in his career.

Alcaraz can basically play anywhere, and while he has played more as a midfielder than anything else, the numbers suggest he could be used effectively as a right winger.

Indeed, three goals in seven appearances as a right-sided attacker is a great return, and that’s something that David Moyes may want to keep in mind at Everton.

Whether or not Everton have any further signings up their sleeve remains to be seen, but
