Everton surely have to reignite Abdoulaye Doucoure interest this summer
Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure reminded everyone why he is one of the best players outside the traditional top six teams in the Premier League at the weekend – and Everton should reignite their interest in the player.
The Frenchman was on target during the 1-1 draw against Brighton on Saturday evening whilst operating as more of an advanced midfielder.
During his time in English football, Doucoure has become more known for his ability to provide defensive reinforcement.

Given his physical stature, Doucoure has been effective for Watford playing as a holding midfielder, breaking up play and starting attacks.
But recently Nigel Pearson has shifted him further forward to take advantage of his attacking capabilities – and the 27-year-old appears to be thriving.
Everton were linked with a move for Doucoure when Marco Silva was still in charge, , and Carlo Ancelotti could now do a lot worse than to snap up the club’s previous transfer target.
TBR’s view – Sigurdsson replacement?
On the whole this season, Gylfi Sigurdsson’s form has been fairly underwhelming.

The Iceland international has experienced a significant drop off at Goodison Park, and fans have not been shy in voicing their opinions.
Given Doucoure’s evident versatility, it is surely now within Everton’s best interests to reignite their previous interest in the player.
He’s shown he has the capacity to get up and support the attack, and his energy would be a refreshing break from Sigurdsson who has looked lethargic and even disinterested at times this season.
