Everton star Yannick Bolasie concerned about AFCON impact

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie believes AFCON could negatively impact the start of his season.

Reports have suggested there will be a big clear out at the club this summer, with Bolasie named as a possible £10 million outgoing earlier this year ().

The 30-year-old has struggled since joining the club in 2016 for a reported £25 million ().

Shortly after signing, the DR Congo international suffered an ACL injury which ruled him out for a year.

He was then loaned out to Aston Villa at the start of last season, and then headed to Belgium with Anderlecht for the second half.

Speaking about AFCON, : “Logically, if I really wanted to think [about it], I’d just put my career first and say I’m going back to Everton.

“I feel myself, I’m back sharp, and I’d go and do a full pre-season, which I haven’t had in two years and which makes the difference to anyone’s season.”

TBR’s view

Bolasie may have his sights set on playing a role for the Toffees on 2018/19, but Marcel Brands’ policy does not work in his favour.

The Dutch director of football wants to sign younger players with high sell-on value.

Aged 30 and on a relatively high wages (£75,000-a-week, ), the club should definitely be trying to find a buyer.

Unfortunately Bolasie’s big injury appears to have robbed him of a future at the club, but the Toffees have to move on.
