Everton star says 2020 Ancelotti signing has become a ‘great leader’ now

Everton captain Seamus Coleman has labelled Allan as a ‘great leader’ ahead of his side’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Brazilian, signed by Carlo Ancelotti from Napoli in the summer of 2020, started off his Toffees career really well. He was brilliant for Everton last season, especially in the first half, and it looks like he’s a great teammate too.
Coleman is as good a captain as they come. He has worn the Everton armband with a lot of pride over the years and if anyone can identify a leader, it’s him.
The Irishman has named Allan as a player who really helps him out behind the scenes.
Seamus Coleman: Allan is a great leader at Everton
In the for Sunday’s game against the Seagulls, Colemen shared his thoughts on leadership and what it means to be the captain of Everton. In the end, he named Allan and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as two players who are real leaders alongside him in the squad.
He said: “There were a few occasions in the past when my form was under scrutiny. I am the captain of the Club and a familiar face. I would rather it be me than someone coming through, or a player who has just signed for the Club. I can take it on the chin and understand you have to accept the good and bad together.
“I know what I am doing to try to have a positive impact on the team every day. I might not be the playing presence I was at 23 or 24, but as a captain and in training every day, I am giving my all, approaching it as if I was a 22-year-old.
“Allan is a great leader, someone who helps me along as much as he can. His English is improving every week and he has excellent leadership qualities. And Dominic Calvert-Lewin is so important for us and starting to show real leadership qualities.”

TBR View:
Allan has been a regular for Everton this season. He started each of the Toffees’ first 15 games of the season, but he has missed the last two due to an injury.
However, he is now back fit now and his experience and leadership in the middle of Everton’s midfield will be extremely important for them in the second half of the season.
The pressure is well and truly on Rafa Benitez now. The win against Arsenal and the draw against Chelsea has made things look slightly better than it was a few weeks ago, but they still need a lot of help to end the season in a respectable position.
Allan and Coleman’s leadership will definitely help them and Calvert-Lewin’s return could well be the boost they need to get their season back on track.
