Everton stand great chance of beating Liverpool to one of ‘Europe’s best’ – TBR View
Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have both been linked with a player deemed “one of the three best goalkeepers in Europe” and the Toffees stand a great chance of beating the Reds to his signature.
, Everton and Liverpool are just two of the teams interested in Trabzonspor stopper Ugurcan Cakir, along with Tottenham Hotspur and Italian side Roma.
Cakir has won plenty of plaudits this season for his impressive displays, which have helped his club to the top of the Turkish Super Lig table on goal difference.

Leicester City scout Lee Congerton, meanwhile, previously told the that Cakir was “one of the best goalkeepers I have seen in my life.”
Earlier in May, Cakir’s former coach, Sadi Tekelioglu, told that “Liverpool will transfer Ugurcan Cakır at the end of the season” – but with new reports having sprung up since, the race still seems wide open.
Klopp currently has Alisson Becker, Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher at his disposal, with Loris Karius also returning from his loan spell at Besiktas.
Ancelotti, meanwhile, has Jordan Pickford and Joao Virginia, plus Jonas Lossl set to return from his Huddersfield loan, while Maarten Stekelenburg is reportedly bracing himself to leave Goodison Park.
At Liverpool, Alisson’s heroics have cemented him as number one, while Adrian has shown to be a capable enough deputy most of the time.
A mile up the road, however, Pickford’s recent form and criticism sent his way suggests he’s no longer quite as immovable, while the current number two is apparently on the way out of the club, so it’s a lot more up for grabs.
Although Liverpool are the reigning Champions League holders and Premier League champions-in-waiting, why would Cakir move there to probably be just third choice, second at absolute best?
At Everton, meanwhile, he’d probably start off as number two but with the real potential to take over from Pickford, and this, on top of an exciting future for the club under one of the best coaches in the game, there’s plenty to tempt Cakir to the blue half of Merseyside.
