Everton should consider splashing out £35.25m on Abdoulaye Doucoure
This week has seen Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure being linked with a host of clubs. The Frenchman has been in fine form for the Hornets and that has seen the likes of PSG, Arsenal and Liverpool linked with the player. has suggested the trio of clubs are all keen, with a price-tag of around €40 million (£35.25 million) being placed on the Watford star.
That is certainly a big fee for the player. But should it put Everton off of rivalling the big guns for his signature?
Doucoure initially struggled to make an impact in English football. It was not until Marco Silva arrived at Vicarage Road that fans got to see the best of the player.
Now, he has become one of the better performing midfielders in the league and Everton were tentatively linked in the summer.

Of course, business between Watford and Everton is difficult. The way in which Silva ended up Everton manager still irks Watford and the Toffees clearly had to pay a premium for Richarlison in the summer.
Doucoure would, however, be an excellent addition for Everton. With Idrissa Gana Gueye approaching 30, Andre Gomes only on a non-buying loan, James McCarthy’s injury record, Tom Davies still maturing and Morgan Schneiderlin inconsistent a central midfielder will be needed in the summer.
Everton will need to shell out big if they are to push for European football and the addition of Doucoure would help them in that task. If £35.25 million is the price, then Everton should seriously consider splashing out.
