Everton should consider late swoop for coveted French ace likened to Zouma
Everton want to sign Kurt Zouma this summer, but Chelsea’s transfer ban may complicate matters.
The defender is to head back to his parent club, but there are no guarantees the Blues will sell to the Toffees because they would not be able to immediately replace him.
Zouma performed well throughout 2018/19, and it would be unsurprising if Chelsea were reluctant to sell.

Everton, therefore, need to be on the lookout for potential replacements in case they can’t sign their number one target.
Perhaps Marcel Brands and Marco Silva should be looking at coveted Saint-Etienne starlet William Saliba, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal and Manchester United in recent weeks.
TBR’s view
The latest is that Saliba is in ‘advanced discussions’ with the Gunners and that an agreement could be reached in the coming weeks ().
Everton need to get definitive word from Chelsea over Zouma so they know where they stand.
If there is no hope, then Saliba should perhaps be considered as his replacement.

Parallels can be drawn between the two players – Saliba is currently at Saint-Etienne, which is where Zouma started his career.
Saliba is a towering central defender who is good on the ball just like Zouma, and has exciting potential.
And Jose Mourinho recently said of the 18-year-old (): “I think he has everything needed to become a good player, much like Kurt Zouma, who I signed.”
His lack of experience would make him a gamble, but perhaps it would be one worth taking for Everton at this point.
