Everton round-up: Pepe links, Usmanov ‘help’ and strong side likely

Pepe links

Everton continue to be linked with a move for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe this week. The talented wide-man has been mentioned as a party of interest by Catalan

also commented on the interest. They report Everton watched him score a hat-trick against Amiens a fortnight ago.

The player, who was the subject of a failed Lyon bid in the summer, is also being tracked by La Liga sides Barcelona and Sevilla.

This will certainly be a move to keep tabs on going into the winter.

Usmanov comments

Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov has been discussing his plans to help Everton chairman Farhad Moshiri.

The former Arsenal director, who is good friends with Moshiri, told Russia 1, that Everton are far from where they need to be and he would like to ‘help’.

Considering his vast wealth, estimated at over £9 billion, it would be a big boost for Everton. However, he also alluded to current tensions between the UK and Russia making a deal difficult.

Strong v Saints

Everton take on Southampton in the League Cup this evening and will be fielding a strong side for the game.

The club’s manager Marco Silva looks likely to field a strong side in the game as he is adamant he wants to pick up a trophy this season.

he wants to avoid overseeing a record-breaking barren spell for the club. Everton last won silverware in 1995, with their longest previous barren streak at 24 years.
