Everton reportedly want Samuel Umtiti, and one Toffee may be key to any deal
Everton are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
, the Toffees are one of several teams interested in the French central defender, with Barca keen to offload him on loan next month.
Umtiti’s importance to the Catalan giants has waned in recent times, with the 27-year-old struggling for minutes at the Nou Camp having had various injury problems.

Apparently Everton have made contact with Barca regarding Umtiti, and it remains to be seen if Marcel Brands can pull of a January swoop.
Everton may feel they stand a good chance, especially since they’re already in possession of one of Umtiti’s good friends Lucas Digne.
Digne and Umtiti both joined Barca in the summer of 2016, and ended up playing plenty of games as part of their backline, with the former at left-back and the latter at left centre-back.
clearly shows the pair are quite close, with Digne even saying he knows him ‘so well’.
TBR’s View – Everton’s trump card?
It seems 2018 World Cup winner Umtiti is a wanted man, but the presence of Digne at Goodison Park might work in Everton’s favour.

It always helps when clubs already have players who know potential transfer targets well.
Digne and Umtiti have known each other for years from French youth level, and it would be hardly a surprise if Everton gave the left-back a little nudge to help convince him to join.
He’d be a decent addition for Everton, who don’t currently have any left-footed centre-backs.
