Everton reportedly want Manchester United star that Fellaini raved about at 2018 World Cup

Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard ahead of the summer transfer window, a player that Marouane Fellaini heaped praise on at the 2018 World Cup.

Everton are interested in 27-year-old Lingard, who has failed to score a Premier League goal since December 2018. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side want as much as £30million for the 24-time England international.

They are not the only side interested in former Brighton, Derby, Birmingham and Leicester loanee Lingard. Indeed, Arsenal are also keen on Lingard, while Roma and Atletico Madrid may look to lure him away from England.

Lingard’s future is certainly in doubt this summer, with the playmaker set to enter the final 12 months of his £110,000-a-week () deal. But Everton supporters will be keen to hear what Fellaini at the 2018 World Cup, about Lingard.

“He’s a very clever player on the pitch — and we saw that against Panama,” , after Lingard had scored for England. “He’s done well for the past few years, that’s why he plays for Manchester United, and he has to continue like that.

“Everybody knows he’s a good player who can score good goals. His ability in front of the goal is good. His technical ability is good and on the pitch his positioning is clever. He’s a great person, he loves to laugh and joke, which is important in the group.”

Everton do have a number of options in attacking midfield, but Bernard has recently been linked with a move to Roma – who also want Lingard. It is fair to say Gylfi Sigurdsson has not enjoyed his best form this season.

Carlo Ancelotti has been linked with signing a number of new players, many from Serie A, ahead of the summer window – but he could also add to his English quota and if Fellaini’s comments are anything to go by, Lingard would be a top addition.
