Report: Inter Milan want to sign £18m Everton star in January

According to reports from Italy this weekend, Inter Milan are ready to sign Everton full-back Lucas Digne in January, with the Toffees now ready to let the Frenchman leave.

Digne has fallen down the pecking order under Rafa Benitez. In fact, rumours of a fallout have been rife for weeks, despite Benitez denying such a rift. But now, it appears Digne will indeed leave Everton in the near furture.

That’s because have reported that Inter Milan are ready to take Digne on loan. Their report claims that Everton are willing to let him leave, with a loan to buy the most likely deal. The Toffees paid for Digne in 2018 when Marco Silva was manager. Any sale, you’d assume, would need to see that money come back into the club.

Digne, 28, had been more or less an ever-present for Everton since signing. But this season he has made just appearances, and has been out of the squad since the beginning of December.

though, claim that three other clubs are keen on DIgne. So while Inter are ready, it doesn’t quite look a done and dusted deal just yet.

TBR’s View: Everton Will Find It Hard To Replace Digne

This would be a real shame for Everton. Lucas Digne has been one of the best left-backs in the league in recent seasons and he’ll be a tough act to follow. Clearly, something has gone off that Benitez is keeping.

That is all well and good. But Everton will lose a fine player if Digne leaves, and one that will cost some money to replace. Indeed, it does look like the Toffees have done that, with the impending signing of Mykolenko from Dinamo Kiev.

Ultimately, this is a huge shame for Digne and Everton. On the flip side, Inter Milan will be getting a fine left-back if they do indeed seal a deal.
