Everton outcast Yannick Bolasie sends message of support to Andre Gomes

Everton’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur yesterday evening was overshadowed by a horrific injury for Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes.

Gomes appeared to severely damage his leg after falling from a Heung-min Son challenge and the result was a sickening image.

Everton fans have recently become accustomed to such awful injuries. James McCarthy broke his leg in a challenge with Salomon Rondon back in January 2018 and Seamus Coleman suffered a similar injury on international duty with the Republic of Ireland in March 2017.

Both players spent lengthy spells on the sidelines because of their injury and Gomes looks set to follow a similar route.

Another Everton player who knows all about severe injuries is Yannick Bolasie.

Whilst not as instantly dramatic as Gomes’ injury, Bolasie’s knee ligament tear against Manchester United in December 2016 went on to rule him out for over a year. The DR Congo international has never looked the same since his return to action and will know all about the pitfalls of recovery.

The attacker, who is currently out on loan at Sporting Lisbon, therefore had a message of support for Gomes, who can hopefully make a full and successful recovery.

Everton fans will certainly hope so, as the midfield maestro has proved to be a top player for the club since his initial arrival on loan last summer.
