Everton not landing Chelsea’s Batshuayi has worked out well
Just over a year ago, Everton were linked with a move for Michy Batshuayi.
, the Toffees were trying to sign the Belgian striker in a permanent £35 million deal from Chelsea, with talks supposedly being held.
The star had just returned to Stamford Bridge after a testing loan spell with Valencia, and his future was up in the air.

Batshuayi was unable to engineer a move away from the Blues though, and remained with the club until the summer.
Batshuayi is still with Chelsea, but has struggled for game time under Frank Lampard – this season, he’s made 23 appearances for the club in all competitions, but just one Premier League start.
He’s hit six goals in 2019/20 and has 12 since returning from Spain.
It’s been something of a slog for the former Marseille man and arguably, Everton’s non-transfer for the player has worked out well, especially given the development of Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the last 12 months.
TBR’s view – Calvert-Lewin aided by non-transfer
For whatever reason the move didn’t materialise last year, Calvert-Lewin has undoubtedly been the main beneficiary.
The English striker has come on leaps and bounds at Goodison Park in recent times.

This term he has 13 goals to his name, and since Batshuayi returned to Chelsea from his Valencia loan, he has 15.
Had Batshuayi joined the club for the £35 million fee that was suggested, Calvert-Lewin surely would not have been given the regular chances he’s been afforded.
For that money Batshuayi would have played the bulk of the games and it’s likely the 22-year-old wouldn’t not be enjoying the new lease of life he is currently.
