Everton must rekindle interest for Geoffrey Kondogbia – TBR View

Valencia are set for a fire-sale this summer, as reports suggest several first-team players were told they can leave the club this summer earlier in the week.

that at least seven players have been told they have no future at the club. Those include the likes of Francis Coquelin, Kevin Gameiro and club captain Dani Pajero.

Another name on that list is Geoffrey Kondogbia and Everton must take full notice of these developments.

Everton were previously linked with a move for the Central African Republic international.

in April that Everton were ready to make a move for the player in the summer. It comes amid an excellent personal season for the former French international, which will now, seemingly, see Valencia cash in on his services.

, documenting Tottenham’s interest in the player, suggested he could be available for a cut-price €30 million (£26m) this summer.

At that price, he would be a perfect recruit for Everton in a problem position.

It has become clear in recent weeks that Everton are lacking in central midfield. Summer recruits Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph cannot seem to stay fit whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies have not impressed consistently and lack defensive strength.

Kondogbia would be the perfect transitional midfielder to finally replace Idrissa Gana Gueye at Goodison Park.

Everton even have a secret weapon in any pursuit, as Kondogbia is close with current left-back Lucas Digne who backed him to shine in Italian football after early struggles with Inter Milan in 2015.

“Kondogbia, who is a friend of mine, is a great player and he will show it here in Italy as well.”

Everton desperately need a central midfielder who can give Carlo Ancelotti the shape of a team ready to battle for Europe.

Kondogbia is exactly that and if available, the Toffees must be in the running.
