Everton may not be bothered by Hakim Ziyech news after Davy Klaassen failure

The agent of Everton target Hakim Ziyech has ruled out a move to Goodison Park. The Moroccan was linked with the Toffees in the summer. However, he nearly joined AS Roma instead, but a deal collapsed after the two clubs could not agree on a fee.

Since then the playmaker has signed a new deal at Ajax but is still expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

But his representative Rene van der Gijp has that his client is too good for Everton.

His stats this season certainly suggest that Everton will be missing out. The 25-year-old has six goals and five assists so far this season.

But Everton fans will no just how disappointing a star in the Netherlands can be in the Premier League.

Last summer the Toffees won the race to sign Dutch international and Ajax captain Davy Klaassen. and it quickly became clear that he was not cut out for the Premier League.

After a dreadful season, he was moved on in the summer. The Dutchman joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen for , a loss of £11.6 million.

As good as Ziyech has been for Ajax, the Dutch league can be a strange indicator of talent. He struggled to perform similarly at the World Cup in the summer and his Champions League displays have been questionable.

So perhaps missing out on Ziyech would not be the worse thing to happen to Everton.
