Everton make contact to sign ‘amazing’ free agent who Mesut Ozil compared to himself
Everton may not be done with player recruitment just yet – despite the transfer window closing well over a week ago now.
The free agent market always remains open for those footballers who failed to find a club in the transfer window, a pool Kevin Thelwell – Director of Football – has now taken a leap into.
So, which free agent have Everton just made contact to sign? Let’s take a look…
Everton make Yusuf Yazici approach
A story from now states that Everton have made contact to sign Yusuf Yazici.
The 27-year-old is still yet to find a club after departing Lille at the end of last season, with Leicester City and Bournemouth also enquiring about his situation in recent days along with the Toffees.
Furthermore, the French news outlet add that Lazio are keen on Yazici.
The Turkey international scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 42 appearances across all competitions last season, playing in an attacking midfield role, on the right wing, and also as a striker – he is a very versatile forward, to say the least.

Impressively, five of those goals came in just ten UEFA Conference League outings, as Yazici showcased his talents on the European stage.
Turkey international could spark some life into the 2024/25 campaign for Sean Dyche
Everton obviously have competition for the Turk’s signature, but if Thelwell can fend Leicester City, Bournemouth and Lazio off, it could prove to be an inspired piece of business.
Yazici has previously been called an “amazing” footballer by Mesut Ozil of all players, who even compared the free agent to himself – which speaks volumes given how the man from Gelsenkirchen was one of the most talented players of his generation.

The 35-year-old Hurriyet in 2018: “Yusuf Yazici is an amazing No.10 – we have a lot of similarities and I see myself in him.
“His left foot, his position, his close passing and calmness on the ball. We will see Yusuf at a big European club in the near future.”
Yazici is yet to settle at a top club and live up to Ozil’s comments, but if Everton can secure his signature, Goodison Park could play host to the Turkey international fulfilling his vast potential at last.
