Everton make contact for another signing as Toffees close in on Jesper Lindstrom too
Everton are close to signing Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli – but contact has been made to secure another signing in the meantime as well.
The Toffees have agreed a deal to sign Lindstrom on loan from Napoli for the 2024/25 campaign – while also negotiating an option to buy the Dane for €25m (£21m) next summer.
So, who have Everton made contact to sign as talks with Napoli near an end? Let’s take a look…
Everton enquire about Yasin Arda Midilic
A story from in Turkey now claims that Everton have made contact with Gençlerbirliği to sign Yasin Arda Midilic.
The Turkish news outlet believe Everton “requested images” of the defender, suggesting that the Toffees potentially asked for video footage of the 17-year-old in action.
Midilic has made Everton sit up and take notice after impressing in the youth ranks for Gençlerbirliği – recently earning a promotion from the U17 side to the U19 ranks for his fine performances.

Sporanki add that Everton are continuing to monitor the teenager’s situation, and could soon submit an official bid after their initial enquiry.
It comes after Everton also made contact with Montpellier to sign Becir Omeragic in recent days – according to – so Kevin Thelwell is clearly on the hunt for central defenders.
17-year-old could follow a similar path to Jarrad Branthwaite
Midilic is clearly talented, having already caught Everton’s eye, but it feels unlikely that he will become part of Sean Dyche’s immediate plans at the age of 17, even if a deal is agreed with Gençlerbirliği.
However, the Turkish wonderkid could follow a similar path to Jarrad Branthwaite – who is now a £75m Premier League star and England international.
The 22-year-old was not an immediate success story for Everton following his arrival from Carlisle back in 2020, when he was coincidentally the same age as Midilic.

Branthwaite spent seasons on loan at Blackburn and then PSV Eindhoven before breaking into the first-team at Goodison Park, with his superb performances now proving that he was worth waiting for.
Hopefully – if Everton do sign Midilic – the Turk can follow a similar pathway, if not break in under Dyche even sooner.
