With first-team game time unlikely at Goodison Park, he has followed the trend of young Englishmen heading to the Bundesliga. And the England U21 starlet has already made an impression for Schalke, scoring once and contributing to three clean sheets in four games.

When quizzed about his long-term future, : “It’s still too early for that decision. I don’t want to live in the future. Whatever happens, happens. Now I’m definitely giving everything for Schalke.”

TBR’s view

Kenny is a hit in Germany already and he is finally getting the chance to prove his worth. The Everton academy graduate has been in and out of the first-team depending on Coleman’s fitness and Mason Holgate’s availability and form.

The 22-year-old needs to keep up this level of performance for the whole season to convince Silva to give him an Everton reprieve. But with Sidibe now at the club, Kenny’s best chance of first-team football lies in Gelsenkirchen.
