Everton linked with summer deal for previous Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti signing Hirving Lozano
Everton will reportedly make a move for Mexican attacker Hirving Lozano in the summer, in a deal that would make two key members of staff very happy.
Everton will make a move for the player at the end of the season. The deal would reportedly need to be in the region of €40-€42 million (£34m-£35.7m) for Everton to secure his services.
It comes after the Mexican has struggled to have a positive impact since his move to Italy from PSV Eindhoven.
TBR’s View
Of course, this is a deal that should have Everton fans excited. Whilst Lozano has struggled in Italy, he was electric in the Dutch league and the Champions League during his time at PSV. In the 2018-19 season he scored 21 times and bagged 12 assists in 40 appearances for the club and also starred at the 2018 World Cup with El Tri.
Not only should the fans want this deal, but Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti and director of football Marcel Brands would surely be keen.
Ancelotti was the manager at Napoli when Lozano was brought in by the Partenopei. the Everton boss was the key figure behind Lozano’s signature.
Brands is also a fan of the player. He brought Lozano to Dutch football during his time as technical director at PSV. Brands has previously stated he would not overpay for Lozano when Everton were linked with bringing the winger in from Eindhoven,
“If Hirving Lozano and Steven Bergwijn go directly to the absolute top in the Premier League, they will find it very difficult.
“Thirty million for Hirving… we will not pay that.”
He stated that spending big on players from the Eredivisie made little sense considering their lack of experience in a big league. Whether Lozano’s difficult period in Italy would change his opinion is up for debate.
But if Ancelotti is already a fan and with Brands clearly a believer in Lozano’s talent, perhaps this is a match made in heaven for Everton in the summer transfer market.
