‘Take it seriously’: Everton fans react to drawing Lincoln City in the EFL Cup

Everton started the 2019/20 campaign with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend.

After spending heavily on his squad during the summer, boss Marco Silva knows he must deliver the goods this time around.

One way or another the football club wants a return to European competition, whether that be through league position or by winning a cup competition.

Everton found out which opponents stand in their way on an assault on the EFL Cup last night. The draw has paired them with Lincoln City, with the Toffees to travel to Sincil Bank during the week commencing 26th August.

Silva’s team actually beat the Imps in last season’s FA Cup. Ademola Lookman and Bernard gave Everton a narrow 2-1 win on that occasion.

Lincoln defeated Championship outfit Huddersfield Town last night and reaching the third round is by no means a formality for Everton.

The Toffees haven’t won a trophy since 1995 when a Paul Rideout goal saw them defeat Manchester United 1-0 and lift the FA Cup.

Supporters of the club would dearly love to see their team win a trophy again and a win over Lincoln would set them on their way.

Following the draw, we looked at what Everton fans were saying about drawing Lincoln City:
