‘Make or break’: Everton fans react as Kieran Dowell joins Derby on loan

Everton have allowed youngster Kieran Dowell to join Championship outfit Derby County on loan ahead of the 2019/20 campaign,

It is the third occasion that the attacking midfielder has ventured out temporarily following spells at Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.

He helped the Blades to automatic promotion last season but Chris Wilder opted not to take him back to Bramall Lane.

Dowell becomes the first new signing for new Rams boss Phillip Cocu and has joined up with his new team-mates on their pre-season tour of Florida.

Some Everton supporters had hoped to see the 21-year-old given a chance in Marco Silva’s squad this season.

Clearly, the Portuguese boss doesn’t deem him ready for first-team action at Goodison Park just yet and that is Derby’s gain.

The Rams will be hoping to go one better than last season when football resumes, after losing to Aston Villa in the Play-Off Final back in May.

Some Toffees supporters have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration at Dowell being allowed to leave the club on loan once again.
