The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford once again, despite threatening to make his mark in previous seasons. Despite being part of pre-season once again, it is expected that United will listen to offers for Pereira.

United could, should they decide to sell him in the end. And Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Everton have made an approach for the midfielder.

However, as Romano says, Everton will face hefty competition for Pereira from a number of clubs. A return to South America is one option for the player, while Lazio are also thought to feature on his list of preferred destinations.

With United having such depth in midfield and the likes of Donny van de Beek not even getting near the first XI last term, it very much seems Pereira’s time could be up.

Time to move on, for everyone

It’s just never quite happened for Pereira at Old Trafford. He’s got close and played games, but never quite seized his opportunity.

A move, then, would be best for everyone now. At 25, Pereira needs regular football and he showed with Lazio last year than he can do the business in another league.

The question really will be if United price him out of a move. £20m seems a lot for a fringe player. Don’t, then, rule out yet another loan move for the Brazilian come the end of this transfer window.
