Everton keen on former Chelsea boss as Sean Dyche on thin ice

Alarm bells have begun ringing at Everton in wake of the club’s dismal start to the Premier League season.

The Toffees have made the worst start in their history and have gone into the international break bottom of the table.

Everton were hammered in both of their opening games, conceding seven goals and failing to score against Brighton and Tottenham.

The Blues then picked up a confidence-boosting win over Doncaster in the EFL Cup and looked set to win against Bournemouth in their following league game.

However, Everton capitulated in last few minutes of the match. They went from being 2-0 up in the 86th minute to losing 3-2 come full-time.

Now, TBR Football understands that Everton boss Sean Dyche has been given the dreaded ‘vote of confidence’ by the club’s current hierarchy.

Sean Dyche given Everton vote of confidence amid admiration for Graham Potter

Dyche came into pressure last season before finding form in the second-half of the season and guiding Everton to safety.

Although the Toffees lost Amadou Onana in the summer, they invested in their squad, bringing in a number of new names – but as yet Dyche has not been able to see an improvement.

Everton are also in the process of a takeover, with Lyon and Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor the latest to attempt to buy Farhad Moshiri’s stake at Goodison Park.

However, takeover discussions aside, the club’s current top-brass are hugely concerned by Everton’s efforts on the pitch in their last season at Goodison Park.

With that, TBR understands that Dyche’s future has been discussed in detail.

Whilst the Everton hierarchy is ready to give him more time and have told him as such, intermediaries are believed to be looking at potential options – should they make a change.

TBR is told that, whilst former boss David Moyes would be considered, it is believed that former Chelsea boss Graham Potter has a number of admirers within the club.

Back in 2023, Moyes described Potter as a ‘very good’ manager in reaction to the latter being sacked by Chelsea.

As per , Moyes said: “I replied to Brendan Rodgers thing which I was really disappointed for Brendan and I’m exactly the same for Graham Potter, because I think that they’re both very good managers.

“I’m sure both will be back in the game, I don’t think they will be out for very long. Sadly in the industry we are in, it can happen and we’re all aware of it.
