Everton have poached a fitness coach from Newcastle
Everton have poached Newcastle’s fitness and rehab coach.
The Toffees have made a strong start to life under Rafa Benitez.
Benitez has his new side 8th in the table after eight games.
Had they managed to beat West Ham on the weekend then Everton would have ended the game week in 4th though.
Fortunately there is still a lot of time left for the Toffees to climb up the table this season.
It might be made even easier for Benitez to achieve that too, now that he’s been reunited with a member of his backroom staff.
When Benitez left Newcastle United not all of his staff left with him.
However, today Everton have made the move to poach Benitez’s old fitness coach from Newcastle.
Everton have poached Newcastle’s fitness and rehab coach

According to , Cristian Fernandez has left Newcastle for Merseyside.
Benitez hired Fernandez when he was in charge at St. James’ Park and now they’ve been reunited at Goodison Park.
Hopefully this will go someway towards getting Everton’s injured players back to fitness quicker.
They fell to a 1-0 defeat against West Ham at home yesterday and were without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison.
With Fernandez coming in to help work on those unfit players who aren’t available, Benitez will be hoping for better availability.
If this signing of the fitness and rehab coach leads to players coming back early and helping the Toffees to pickup more points then it’s worth it.
Modern football is all about marginal gains and Benitez may have just made another gain here.
Time will certainly tell, but you can’t imagine this will be a bad thing.
