Everton fans want Jonjoe Kenny to start v Newcastle United this weekend
Everton take on Newcastle United this weekend hoping to get back to winning ways following a 2-0 loss against Southampton last weekend.
One key area of concern from that game was at right-back, where an out of place Ben Godfrey was targeted by Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men with obvious results.
Seamus Coleman remains sidelined through injury so Everton fans are seemingly keen to see another man get a chance in the right-back slot.
The player in question is Jonjoe Kenny. The England youth international has himself been absent with injury but looks set to be fit for the Newcastle game,

The defender had a stellar season on loan at Schalke last term and his spell in the Bundesliga had many believing he might very well be the long-term successor to Coleman after all.
Unfortunately, his injury has struck at the worst possible time considering his chance to come in and play at right-back immediately.
Newcastle will be a tough opponent and if Allan Saint-Maximin decides to hang out on the left-wing, a player used to playing in the right-back role is going to be needed for Everton, especially with the suspended Lucas Digne missing on the opposite side.
If fit, Kenny has to start for Everton this weekend and it seems plenty of Everton fans agree with that take.
Jonjoe Kenny the natural RB should be playing there. Tough ask for Godfrey

Sad state of affairs that I hope JonJoe Kenny plays against Newcastle

If Jonjoe Kenny is fit, we need a fullback to play fullback.
Godfrey is not a fullback.
As for Iwobi, well he’s no Richarlison. Gordon is a way better option there, Iwobi seems to offer nothing.

Jonjoe kenny plays all season in germany and gets some great reviews comes back plays one game for us and gets injured at the same time as seamus thats us all over in it …if it wasnt for bad luck we would have no luck at all 😂

Jonjoe Kenny could be fit, he’s returned to training. Hopefully Gomes comes back in for Sigurdsson and finds his form. I reckon Southampton was just a blip and we’ll see off Newcastle and stay where we belong at the top of the table! 🤞🏼

Lineup vs. Newcastle: Gordon did more in 30 mins than Iwobi did in 60 (not hard that tho). Would also be interested to see the Gordon-Nkounkou dynamic. Also, Kenny: rb at rb and a closer version of Coleman compared to Godfrey. Can maybe replicate a similar dynamic with James?

We miss Richarlison massively, hopefully Gordon is given a chance from the start against Newcastle. We need pace. Hopefully Kenny will be back to play right back.

Play Kenny at Newcastle

Could be mate as he has looked really decent.Kenny and Branthwaite will be back for Newcastle game as well so at least we will be back to having a balanced side again.Kenny at least brings balance and its upto him and Nkounkou to take their chances.
