Everton fans on Twitter: Welcoming Gylfi Sigurdsson & discussing Ross Barkley’s future

One of the longest transfer sagas of the summer has come to an end after Everton announced the signing of Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson on Wednesday evening.

The Iceland international had a stellar season for the Swans and a move to a bigger club looked inevitable. His nine goals and 13 assists helped keep Swansea in the Premier League, and losing him will worry their fan base.

Yet, Everton fans will not care about that and, instead, they will be delighted to welcome the 27-year-old into their side. He joins on a five-year deal for a club record fee, as announced by the Toffees’ .

His arrival caused a stir on Twitter, with fans welcoming him to the club, while rival supporters utilised their opportunity to make a comment also.

The Icelandic man’s arrival also led to many feeling that the end of Ross Barkley’s Everton career is near.

The Englishman, who made 36 Premier League appearances last season, has been strongly linked with a move away from the Merseyside club this summer, with the reporting that Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in signing him.
