It was a lacklustre performance from Everton, especially in the second half – the prospect of reaching a semi-final seemingly having an effect on the hosts.

They came into the game off the back of three straight wins against Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal, but were unable to get one over on United in front of 2000 fans.

The supporters did their best to breathe life into the team, but a goal wasn’t forthcoming and the Red Devils punished Everton at the end.

It is a disappointing result for Everton, who would have been drawn against Manchester City had they gotten through.

On social media, fans were frustrated with the performance as a collective, but there were some people picking out £27 million centre-back Mina () for praise.
