When Everton signed Kurt Zouma on loan last summer there was some serious doubt about the acquisition. The injury-prone Frenchman was coming off the back of a difficult season with Stoke City so there was understandable trepidation.
Everton had however just signed Yerry Mina so Zouma was only going to be a back-up to him and Michael Keane. However, a season down the line, and it would not be wrong to say Zouma has been the best of the three.
The Chelsea loanee has been sensational at times for Everton this season, particularly over the last few months of the campaign.
It is no wonder Everton want to sign him permanently. Everton are ready to pay £30 million for the privilege.

However, they face a major problem. Chelsea are under a transfer embargo for next season, meaning new players cannot be recruited. Whilst plenty of youngsters at Chelsea will want a first-team chance, the club are losing Gary Cahill whilst Antonio Rudiger will miss the start of next season through injury. Chelsea, therefore, could use a ready-made Premier League centre-back.
Unlucky not to finish the season with a win but great effort from the lads yesterday ?? thanks to the travelling fans again ?

Zouma has dealt up quite the rapport with Everton fans and thanked them once again on Twitter yesterday. It certainly received a response from Everton fans who don’t want to see him go.
Others, perhaps wise to the likelihood he will return to Chelsea, were simply ready to wish the big man well in his future endeavours.
Hopefully, Everton can figure out a way to keep the 24-year-old at Goodison Park…
We all want you to stay but if you do have to go back then so be it, that’s out of yours and our control. You will always have a home at Goodison. We’ve loved you, your commitment and your attitude to playing for Everton, you will always get a warm welcome on your return NSNO! ?
