Everton fans react to Gylfi Sigurdsson performance in Tottenham draw

Everton had to settle for a point on Friday night after an entertaining Premier League draw against Tottenham – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out their star Gylfi Sigurdsson for big praise after his individual performance.

It was a game at Goodison Park where both were desperate for three points to try close the gap to the top four, but they played out a 2-2 draw on Merseyside.

Spurs centre-forward Harry Kane scored twice for the visitors with two instinctive finishes in the box after pouncing on defensive mix ups.

For Everton, they had Sigurdsson on the scoresheet twice to help earn a point that keeps them eighth in the league table.

His first was a composed penalty on the half hour mark to cancel out Kane’s opener.

The 31-year-old central midfielder netted a second in the second half with a cultured finish, as he let the ball run across his body before tucking away with his weaker left foot on the half volley.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media hailed playmaker Sigurdsson for his display on Friday.

He linked up so effectively with teammate James Rodriguez all night, but in the end their side couldn’t find a winner.
