Everton fans react to Andros Townsend display vs Manchester City
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to laud Andros Townsend after his performance for the Toffees in their defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Rafa Benitez’s men were undone by two moments of outrageous quality at the Etihad Stadium. Joao Cancelo played a stunning ball for Raheem Sterling for the home side’s first goal.

And Rodri unleashed an incredible strike for City’s second after the break.
Bernardo Silva would add a third late on.
It proved to be an incredibly difficult afternoon for Everton. The visitors struggled to lay a gloves on Pep Guardiola’s side.

They only managed to produce a handful of attempts on goal. And with that, it does appear that only a couple of players emerged from the game with any sort of credit.
And Townsend was certainly one of those. No player made a greater number of key passes than the summer signing, .
And he was out on his own for successful dribbles. He managed four during the contest.
The 30-year-old’s energy seemed to leave Everton with a glimmer of hope that they may create the chance that would get them back into the game.
‘The lad hasn’t stopped’: Everton fans praise Andros Townsend despite Manchester City loss
And that prompted plenty of Everton fans to take to social media to suggest that he was one of the few who can hold his head up high.
Some even suggested that he was the one positive for the Toffees at the Etihad.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Everton fans made of the performance from Townsend on a disappointing day…

This is embarrassing. Townsend and Gordon the only ones giving a go. Don’t get what Allan, Iwobi or Rondon bring to this team at all 🤷🏼♂️
