Everton fans react as Serge Aurier leaves Spurs as free agent
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Serge Aurier is a free agent after Spurs .
Aurier’s departure will have come as little surprise to many. He had been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium throughout the window.
In fact, the Ivorian even confirmed at one stage that he was ready to move on.

However, as the deadline loomed, it appeared that Aurier was set to stick around and potentially become fourth-choice in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad following the arrival of Emerson Royal.
But Spurs that the 28-year-old has seen his deal mutually terminated. And that appears to have put fans of several clubs on alert.
Signing Aurier will come with a fair amount of risk attached. On his day, he was outstanding for Tottenham.
Everton fans suggest move for Serge Aurier as defender leaves Spurs on free transfer
But relying on him to keep silly mistakes out of his game was difficult. It was from his needless foul that Manchester City scored their only goal from in the Carabao Cup last season.
But he is now available on a free transfer. So it seems much more likely that clubs will be prepared to take that gamble.
And one of the clubs who must surely be tempted is Everton. The Toffees had an interesting window.

The deals they did do look to have been potentially inspired. But concerns remain around Goodison Park.
They failed to sign any full-backs. That is despite lacking depth on both flanks.
Mason Holgate provided cover for Seamus Coleman at right-back last season.
And it seems that he may have a similar responsibility in this campaign – unless a new face arrives on a free transfer.
For several Everton fans, a move for Aurier looks to make a lot of sense.
He boasts loads of Premier League experience. And at 28, he should still have a lot to offer at his next club.
As previously mentioned, his time with Spurs will be remembered as a mixed spell. It arguably says a lot that Tottenham have signed right-backs in the last two summer windows.
But plenty of Toffees supporters feel that a free transfer provides an opportunity too good for Marcel Brands to turn down.
In fact, some clearly feel that the greater risk would be leaving the squad as it is and not pursuing someone such as Aurier.
Should Everton lose Coleman or Holgate to injury, they are going to be incredibly vulnerable in that area of the field.
And if it clicks for Aurier on Merseyside, he could easily prove to be an inspired signing.
Everton have taken calculated gambles on the likes of Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend this summer. And so far, the signs have been incredibly encouraging.
‘Would improve our options’
Perhaps Aurier could follow in their footsteps should he join the Toffees.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Everton fans made of the deadline day news that Aurier has left Spurs on a free transfer…
Serge Aurier will only be a good deal if we get him on a short term deal on fairly low wages. He’d be a temporary measure; the last thing we want to be doing is signing him on a long term deal on high wages.

I’m sorry Everton but we can not pass up on Aurier, the Ivorian link up with Gbamin is too good to pass up on. Don’t mess this up Brands 🔵🔵

Surely we should be looking at Aurier now even as a short term option

reporting that Serge and Spurs have just terminated his contract should be straight in but they won’t be
