Everton fans react as Lewis Gibson is linked with Ajax, PSV and Newcastle
, Everton risk losing Lewis Gibson with a host of clubs circling.
Ajax and PSV are the latest teams to enter the race for Everton defender Gibson. Newcastle United also want to bring him back to Tyneside after he left the Magpies to join Everton in 2017.
Gibson’s agent is based in the Netherlands, giving Ajax and PSV an advantage in this pursuit. Both Eredivisie clubs could tempt him with their policy of promotion from within.
This could play a factor as Gibson makes his future decision. Everton have not yet handed the talented 19-year-old his senior debut – despite his consistently impressive performances for David Unsworth’s U23 side.
Gibson plays as a left-sided central defender or as a left-back and he has been knocking on Marco Silva’s door. But his opportunity has not come yet and this coincides with his contract expiring in summer 2020.
