Everton fans react as Leeds and Arsenal reportedly eye Thierry Small
Everton teenager Thierry Small is reportedly refusing to sign a new contract at Goodison Park this summer as he has not been impressed with his lack of first-team exposure – and Toffees fans have reacted to the reports.
Small, 16, has broken through Everton’s academy and even made his first-team debut this season – coming on as a substitute against Sheffield Wednesday during a 3-0 FA Cup win. But that is not enough for Small.
Indeed, that Small is refusing to sign a new deal – with a three-year contract offer on the table – as he wants more assurances and a better pathway into the senior side. He does not see one at Everton right now.

Lucas Digne remains first choice, while Ben Godfrey is likely to be used at left-back ahead of Niels Nkoulou. Then there is Small – who has now clocked up nine appearances in the club’s Under-23 side, scoring three goals.
The report claims plenty of clubs are interested in signing Small including big-hitters Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern. The heavyweights will fail to offer him a first-team path, but the lure of the clubs will tempt him.
Whereas, Leeds, Brighton and Brentford are also interested and all three clubs can offer better first-team prospects – for a player who would cost just £1million. Everton fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports.
End of the day, if Thierry Small wants to move on because training under Ancelotti isn’t enough at 16, then so be it. Would be great if something could be worked out and he stayed, but Everton can’t and won’t be held to ransom over anything.

Why would Thierry small wanna sign a contract here let’s be honest, got digne and nkounkou ahead of him and of course he’ll wanna play first team football

Thierry small is a tidy little player, he’s also much more physically advanced than most 16 year olds which masks a lot of technical issues at under 23s togger. It’s a loss if he goes but he isn’t roberto Carlos (at this moment in time)
