Everton fans react as Kieran Dowell nets hat-trick in Wigan’s 8-0 win over Hull City
Kieran Dowell scored a hat-trick for Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night as the Latics produced a somewhat sensational performance to beat Hull City 8-0 at the DW Stadium – and Everton fans have responded on Twitter.
Wigan have been facing administration off the pitch and in the board room but on the pitch, Paul Cook’s side are on fire. They have won five of their last seven league games, and equalled the biggest Championship win of all time.
Social media went into meltdown when it emerged that Cook’s side were seven goals to the good at half-time against a beleaguered Hull City, who look as good as down after just one win in 18 – 14 of which have been defeats.

With a 12-point deduction for administration incoming, it was a crucial win for Wigan who moved 12 points ahead of 22nd-placed Hull City. Dowell, 22, took full advantage as he found the back of the net three times.
The England Under-21 international, who has entered the final 12 months of his Everton contract, took his tally to four in 11 for Wigan – while also laying on an assist. He has played just five times for the Toffees’ senior side.
Everton supporters responded on Twitter to their on-loan star’s hat-trick on Tuesday evening, and many applauded the attacking midfielder for his ruthlessness in front of goal. Some still expect him to be sold this summer.
Few million for Kieran Dowell then 👍🏼
