Everton fans react as Jonjoe Kenny scores first goal for loan club Schalke

Everton made the decision to send Jonjoe Kenny out on loan this summer, with the England under-21 right-back heading to Bundesliga club Schalke.

It was a decision that divided fans at Goodison Park. Whilst many Evertonians believe that Kenny has the ability to be a Premier League defender, others simply don’t believe he has what it takes to have a successful career on Merseyside.

However, Kenny has certainly proven himself early on at his new club.

Yesterday, he even managed to score his first goal in club football.

Kenny smashed home a well-hit effort from outside the box as Schalke defeated Hertha Berlin 3-0.

His goal was just rewards for another excellent performance at his new club. It also made up for his mistake last week, when he clumsily fouled Kingsley Coman in defeat to Bayern Munich.

Everton ended up signing World Cup winner Djibril Sidibe on loan as a replacement for Kenny with Seamus Coleman still the number one choice. But based on his early performances in Germany the 22-year-old might be proving himself ready to one day take over from Coleman at Goodison Park.
